Osteoarthritis Post #13

Hyaluronic Acid (Viscosupplement) Injections
Another treatment a doctor may recommend for osteoarthritis involves hyaluronic acid injections.  The treatment will be a series of 3 or 5 injections which will be done at the doctor’s office.  The doctor will inject the drug into the joint (knee).  The hyaluronic acid drug acts as a lubricant, shock absorber and cushion to the knee.  The theory behind these injections is that an osteoarthritic knee has less than normal amount of this fluid.
