Diagnosing osteoporosis

How is osteoporosis diagnosed?  A painful way to be diagnosed with osteoporosis is suffering with a fractured bone.  The painless way is to have a bone density test.  A Bone Density test is recommended for women 65 and older, men 70 and older.  If a person has risk factors, then a bone density test is recommended at a younger age.  Talk to your doctor about your risk factors and get tested when  appropriate.  The National Osteoporosis Foundation shares information at http://www.nof.org/learn/detection
