Bones 101

Did you know your bones are living tissue?  Our bodies break down old, worn out bone (osteoclasts are the cells that break down old bone) and build new bone (osteoblasts are the cells that make new bone). The new bone cells are manufactured within our bone marrow (the inside portion of our bone). Our bones never complain (unless they are broken and then they hurt).  They just do their job of moving us and protecting us (think of our ribs protecting our heart and lungs).  Next time more about osteoporosis.
