Type 2 diabetes

Type 2 (used to be called adult onset) diabetes occurs because of a malfunction:  either the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin or the body cells cannot use the glucose because insulin isn’t present.
Type 2 diabetes onset may be more subtle and difficult to recognize.   In fact, the experts estimate that 7 million Americans who have diabetes do not know they have it.  Symptoms of type 2 include all those listed for type 1 (polydipsia, polyuria, polyphagia) plus frequent infections (whether skin, gum or bladder infections), slower healing of cuts and abrasions, blurry vision, and tingling/numbness of hands or feet.
