In the News--Summer Eye Safety

While preparing for the annual July 4th celebration and its fireworks displays, have you considered eye safety?  The University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) newsletter brings excellent advice:  protect your eyes against fireworks injuries.

According to the American Academy of Opthalmology, every July 4th , there are 1300 people with eye injuries due to fireworks.  What can you do to protect your eyes this July4th?  Begin by wearing safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying objects.  More information can be found at Preventing Eye Injuries at http://www.geteyesmart.org/eyesmart/living/preventing-eye-injuries.cfm  Thanks to the UTHealth staff for their good advice.  This article can be found at http://www.uthealthleader.org/index/article.htm?id=1578154d-5070-4379-aaa7-d8e755a4d351
