In the News--Berries protect against heart attacks in women.

I love strawberries and blueberries.  Did you know they are very healthy?  Researchers found that women who ate strawberries and blueberries three times a week face a 32% reduction in their risk of having a heart attack.  The researchers looked at the over 93,000 women in the Nurses’ Health Study and found the women benefited from eating these berries three times a week.  They believe the high levels of flavonoids in the berries provide the heart-protective benefits.  The researchers said it’s possible that other foods give the same results. It's also quite likely that strawberries and blueberries are heart-protective for men also--that aspect just has not been studied.
