Dealing Allergies #3

Dealing with allergies #2
Do you deal with allergies?
1.
I have found that wearing a mask
when I am doing ‘deep cleaning’ helps protect me from dust which causes me a
miserable allergic reaction.
2.
Allergy medicines can help keep the
symptoms under control. Talk to your
doctor about which allergy medicines are safest for you to take. Some of the over-the-counter antihistamine
medicines can make you sleepy and feel ‘foggy’ with your thinking.
3.
Some of my friends at work suffered
with severe allergies and they have found ‘allergy shots’ have improved their
health. Allergy shots, given under the
care of allergy or ear nose and throat (ENT) doctors, give small doses of the
allergen so your body learns to tolerate the allergen. Allergy shots decrease the miserable symptoms
and the risk of a severe allergic reaction.

Dealing with allergies #1
A recent article on healthfinder.org
gives good suggestions about how to deal with allergies:
1.
Learn what you are allergic to. An allergy doctor can help you identify what
causes your allergies.
2.
Stay inside when pollen counts are high for
the allergen that causes you problems.
The weather.com pollen count page can be found at http://www.weather.com/health/allergy/main
3.
Use your air conditioning and keep
windows and doors shut to protect yourself from pollen issues.
4.
When you have been working or playing
outside, take a shower, wash your hair and change to clean clothes to decrease
the amount of pollen you are exposed. More suggestions next time.

Springtime means allergy season begins for some
As the cold winter leaves us bringing sunshine and blooming flowers, some of us begin dealing with allergies. Are you one of them? What can we do to minimize allergies?
As I mentioned on the March 26 blog
post, people all across the US deal with allergies. Different parts of the country have different
allergens (substances which cause those nasty allergy symptoms—runny nose,
sneezing, watery eyes, etc) Next time
more about allergies and how to deal with them.

In the News--Flu Vaccine Lowers Children's Risk of ICU Flu admission by 3/4
A study reported by the Centers for
Disease Control (CDC) found that when children received this year’s flu
vaccine, the kids were less likely (74%) to end up in the intensive care
unit.
“The CDC recommends annual flu
vaccines for everyone 6 months and older and especially for children at high
risk of serious flu-related complications.”

Easter Sunday, Amazing Song about the Resurrection.
Christians celebrate Easter Sunday because Jesus died for our sins and rose again. Because He did this, our sins will be pardoned when we ask for forgiveness. God sees us as clean and forgiven. Wow. All our mistakes, bad attitudes, and bad behaviors, all of it forgiven when we ask and the promise of heaven when we die. That's why we celebrate Easter. Here's the Easter story on youtube:
